Receiving a Package for Someone Else (Package Fraud)
Did you receive a package that was addressed to someone else? Be careful, this may be a case of package fraud.
The scammer orders a package with the option to pay later. He then arranges for the package to be delivered to your address and attempts to intercept it. The charge for the order will be billed to you later.
Always check the name and address on a package before accepting it. Do you see an unfamiliar name listed? In that case, refuse the delivery. Did you accept it anyway? Do not give it to anyone. Contact the online store to return it. Contact the online store and report that your name and/or address has been used without your permission. The online store cannot compel you to pay for the package if it cannot provide proof that you placed the order.
Send a registered letter to the creditor, clearly disputing the alleged debt and providing justification. Also, attach a copy of any relevant documents (e.g., proof of payment, notice letter...) to support your claim. This is essential, as the law prohibits harassment of the consumer when they have explicitly and convincingly proven their innocence.
