Incorrect or Unclear Energy Bill
An energy bill should not exceed two pages, and the information should be presented in a simple manner. The bill must follow a legally defined structure, as outlined below:
- Section A "Essential Contract Information"
- Section B "What, When and How Do I Have to Pay or Get a Refund?"
- Section C "I Have a Question"
- Section D "Contract Comparison and Switching"
- Section E "Managing Energy Consumption"
Upon request, the energy supplier and intermediary must provide clear and understandable explanations regarding the breakdown of your bill, as well as the energy prices or (social) tariffs applied.
Is your bill incorrect? If so, inform the energy provider clearly and with a detailed justification. It is best to do so in writing via the supplier's customer area, by registered letter or by e-mail with acknowledgement of receipt.
You have the right to withhold payment of any amounts you dispute for the time being. The amount you do not dispute (which you may estimate approximately, if necessary) should be paid immediately.
If you choose to pay before addressing the issue with the invoice, it's advisable to add the following note on the payment: "Payment subject to all rights and without any adverse acknowledgement."
