Energy Bill Reminder Fees

You have at least 15 days to pay your energy bill.

The supplier cannot charge you reminder fees for exceeding three payment deadlines in a calendar year. Once you exceed the payment deadline for the fourth time, the supplier may charge fees, which may not exceed 7.50 euros, plus postage.

From the first reminder, you have a minimum of 14 calendar days to make the payment. If you still haven't paid after that period, the energy supplier may send you a second reminder. Under certain conditions, they may charge a fee and late-payment interest.

Fees and late-payment interest should be clearly stated in the contract (usually in the general terms and conditions). They are legally capped and depend on the amount of your debt.

Are you having payment difficulties? The CPAS can provide material assistance to individuals struggling to pay their energy bills through the Gas and Electricity Fund. More information on the gas and electricity fund can be found on the website of the PPS Social Integration.
